Since the Forums are alright, we have started testing Administrators & Higher Ranks for the site! Maximum Administrators will be three, for now. Why? Because we have no absolute idea about how large our community will be. The larger the community, the more Administrators needed! If we need more hands in dock, we will be testing again. To participate, make sure you have read the Admin Conduct, also listed below.
Administrator Behavior
Professional Behavior - It is important to always keep in mind that, as an administrator, you are a representative of your Chatlands chat site. Chat site administrators are the rule enforcers and they serve as models of good behavior. It would be very inappropriate for a chat administrator to break any of the rules. For this reason, administrators on Chatlands sites must behave professionally at all times, including when they are in private rooms or when sending messages to other users.
- For example, it would be unprofessional for an administrator to swear at users or act rudely towards them, or to ignore a user's question, even in a private room.
- Drunken behavior or being under the influence of any other impairing substance while on chat is unacceptable for an administrator. What you do on your own time is your own choice, but please stay off the chat if you are about to drink or use any substance that may impair your judgment.
- Use of derogatory slurs or other epithets in public rooms is unacceptable - even if such words are done in jest amongst friends.
- Some joking around with friends or goofing off is fine in private rooms - administrators can still have fun! Just use your judgement, and remember that even in private rooms, you are still going to be viewed as a "representative" of the chat site.
Cooperation With Other Sites - All of the Chatlands sites are expected to cooperate with each other. We are working in this together to build a large network of chat sites. While there might be some "friendly competition" between the sites, it is always important to always show proper respect towards the other sites and site administrators. It is not permissible to disparage another chat site nor say unkind things about other administrators. In particular, do not attempt to "undermine" other sites or try to encourage users to leave a chat site.
Confidentiality - Everything that can be found in administrator conference rooms on the chat, other "administrator only" areas of the chat, said in Administrator Forums or discussed between the administrators in meetings or privately is assumed to be PRIVATE. If you are unsure if something is fit for public release, and this includes conversations with your friends, discuss it with the team first or ask an Alpha.
User information, including e-mails, IPs, ban records, etc, is not to be discussed with nor made available to anyone that is not an administrator.
If User B is banned and User A asks about it, you may acknowledge that they're banned, for how long (if asked), but no details of the situation. As an administrator of a Chatlands chat site, you are able to view and handle information that is confidential. The abilities your account has access to are also important. Because of this confidentiality it is of the utmost importance that you do not share your administrator account with anyone - even other administrators. You are also not permitted to share information with someone of a lower administrative rank, in other words, information that is available to you because of your rank, but not available to them because of their rank. If you fail to abide by this rule, you will be demoted.
Room Limit - The room limit is one higher if the person entering is an administrator. This means that administrators have the ability to enter a room that is technically already "full". The ability for administrators to enter full rooms is for use only in cases where an administrator needs to enter in order to help with a problem and it should not be used for non-administrative reasons. Please do not enter a full public room unless you have been called there to help with a problem and remember to leave the room after the problem is resolved if it is still full.
Login Name - Do not change your login name without first asking an Alpha for permission. Seeing a new or different name with administrator colors is confusing to all involved so we want to limit that as much as possible. You are always welcome to login under a different name using a non-administrative account.
Dealing with Users
Upholding Rules - Any user who breaks the rules gets in trouble, but for an administrator to break a rule is even worse. The administration has the extra responsibility of being a model citizen, including following the rules and dealing with troublemakers regardless of social ramifications.
Trust - You have been placed into a position of trust and users will look up to you and how you behave. We have a very good level of trust between the admininstrators and the users; they come to us when they have a problem and they need it to be dealt with and we try our best to solve the problem. We trust each other as a team as we also trust you to use your best judgement while policing the chat. Please don't jeopardize or abuse that trust that we have strived so hard to achieve; do not use your administrator status to meet your own ends or kick someone from the chat simply due to the fact that you don't like them. If you find that you are having difficulty due to your personal feelings towards another user ask another administrator to deal with the situation.
Warnings - When a user misbehaves in chat, make sure to give them a warning before you kick or ban. Then, make sure to kick at least once before you ban. Some users may just not understand the rules until they get a warning or they may not understand that there will be consequences. If you were sent a chat log after the fact, make sure to send the user a warning in the form of an in-chat message or NG (administrative email) unless they have already been warned for the same offense before. The exceptions to this rule are obvious trolls, ie. users who are only on the chat with the intention of causing trouble and breaking the rules. When warning a user, please use whisper as much as possible to keep their warning confidential.
Reporting - Do not leave any bans, kicks, or warnings unreported. It is extremely important to make a thread in the "Warnings & Bans" section of the Administrator Forums as soon as possible.
Log Checks - Please reserve log check requests only for when they are absolutely necessary. In other words, don't ask for a log check just because you want to know what someone said about you! When possible, get the log from the user who reported the incidence. If they are unable to provide it to you, request a log check in the "Warnings & Bans" section of the Administrator Forums. If you have any suspicion that a user has broken a serious rule such as: death threats, hacking threats, fraud, stalking, soliciting sex from minors, etc, feel free to send an Alpha a PM to get their attention more quickly.
Impartiality - Each chat site administrator must be an impartial judge and act as an enforcer of the rules. Whether or not you get along with someone like a "best friend" or dislike them strongly, you must be completely neutral when administering the chat. If a friend breaks a rule and you take no action, you will also be held at fault. Likewise, if you are known to be at odds with a user and abuse your privileges, you will be held responsible for that behavior as well.
Sharing Information About A Ban With Others (Subordinates) - If someone asks you about a ban or why another user was banned, you may tell them only two things:
1. You may tell them whether the user has been banned or has not been banned.
2. If there is a ban, you may tell them how long the ban will last.
You may not tell them why the user was banned, nor anything else about the ban, such as where the event took place, who else was involved, when the ban happened, or anything else except for those two things. You should avoid discussing a ban, and you should not start a conversation about a ban. You may only tell people that ask you about a ban whether or not the user being asked about is, in fact, allowed on the site or not allowed on the site, and when, if ever, that user will be allowed back on the site.
Failure to follow this policy will result in the loss of your administrator rank, and possibly further consequences, depending on the severity of the situation.
Your Agreement - It is required that all administrators read, understand and agree to follow these rules. By accepting the position as an administor of any rank on Psychre Omorfeia, you have agreed that you will follow these rules, and you have agreed to accept the consequences of any failure to do so. Any decision by Khrystophoros-Cadell Doyle (Kerrieth) and Elatha Achen (Xevameni) on whether to allow a person to serve as an administrator of any rank on Psychre Omorfeia site is entirely his sole discretion and his decision is final.
------------------------------------
So, that was pretty much it. If you are going to become an Administrator, you should read AND agree with all that. Also, if you have any questions, post them under this topic. If you are interested in becoming an Admin, PM me or Xevameni, including the answer to the following:
- Your real age (This will be kept a secret if you want to)
- How many years have you been on the Chatlands
- If you are friendly with newborn users, if you answer their questions and help them
- If you know enough about the Chatlands and Psychre Omorfeia to cover if not all, most questions.
Also, make sure that the following is true:
(1) You are 16 years old or older OR that Khrystophoros-Cadell Doyle and Elatha Achen are aware that you are not and have waived this requirement.
(2) You agree to the conditions set forth in the Chatlands administrator conduct (also listed up),
(3) You agree to follow and to enforce the Chatlands terms of use and
(4) You agree to follow and to enforce the Psychre Omorfeia site rules.
(5) You will at all times behave in a professional manner as a site administrator.
(6) You have a good record on other Chatlands sites, and that none of your accounts are currently banned on any other Chatlands sites, or, if any of your accounts are currently banned on another Chatlands site, that you have made Khrystophoros-Cadell Doyle and Elatha Achen aware of the ban and that he has agreed to allow you to contribute in enforcing the law etc etc on Psychre Omorfeia site in spite of any such ban.
